Barthélémy Lafon land survey, 1804 Oct. 2.

Land survey of the land of the widow St. Maxent, in Galveztown, Ascension Parish, Louisiana. Included is a watercolor drawing of the land, as well as a written description. Illustrated are the boundaries of her land, structures on it, and its use for pasture and crops. Her land was bounded by that of Antoini Vales, Daniel Clarck, and P. Gonzales. Gilbert Antoine de St. Maxent was the owner of the surveyed land, which became the property of his wife, Elizabeth La Roche, after his demise.

Barthélémy Lafon was a Deputy Surveyor appointed by Isaac Briggs, Esq. Gilbert Antoine de St. Maxent was sent by Governor Bernardo de Galvez to settle Islenos (immigrants to Louisiana from the Canary Islands) at Galveztown, which was located at the junction of the Amite River and Bayou Manchac.
